Day of mourning

Description

It's a day of mourning today in Russia.
17th of August there was an explosion at Sayano-Shushenskaya power station - the largest power plant in Russia and the fifth-largest hydroelectric plant in the world. They managed to open the sluices, and prevent the drowing of nearers area (which has many towns in it), but the loss is still heavy.
22 peolpe were reported dead at once, but many, many more people were locked deep under the water in "air-bubbles", and there were no chances of saving them because of technical impossibility. Those people continued giving signs of life for more then a day - it is told that they kept knocking at the walls - but then all the noises stopped.
There's still no way to take their bodies out.

My close friend lives there. She's alive, but the things she's describing are more terrible than any tale. When I'm overwhelmed with the emotions, very often I take a brush and a black ink, and start making very quick scetches. Here's one of them.

There's a music, written by one of my friends, written a whileago, which plays in my ears these days - [link] - it could be a soundtrack to this picture...

P.S. Here's a Wiki-article about the accident - [link]

Russia (and formerly Soviet Union) is known for big industrial disasters. Mayak, Sverdlovsk, Baikonur, Chernobyl (now in Ukraine) and now Sayano-Shushenskaya had joined the club. But if you want to progress, you have to be prepared for victims. At least you can mourn them, unlike we (and maybe you too, I don't know) during communists regime, when the afermath of disasters typicaly took shape of a small note at the bottom of newspaper's corner. Officaly there were no disasters in People's Republic of Poland...
